I heard my 4yo calling . . . "MOM! MOM!"
"Mom . . . it cleans up all your stuff . . off your carpet and everything . . . your table, your sweatshirt, your clothes, you can use one for your dishes . . . You use it in your bathroom, your kitchen, your car (as she counts off on her fingers) Mom, did you see it? It's a sam wow!"
Repeat that 4 times and WOW her facial expressions would sell more sham-wow cloths than the goof in the infomercial. If only typed words could convey her enthusiasm.
I'm seriously going to milk this at Christmas parties and ask her to tell people about the cloth on TV. I love this kid.

Fire Fire!
i make big fire last night, late into night. Head hurt. Coffee help some. Bagel good too. I still have most of our old fence to burn. Aside from a nail into the bottom of my toe (flip flops were a not so smart footwear decision), smashing up the fence to burn was fun, as wanton destruction when causing no harm is. Hubby wouldn't tell me where proper tools were ( I KNOW he has an ax somewhere); I did find a shovel. That fence burns really well; my backyard was lit as well as during the day. I should do this everytime I have nowhere to be in the morning. :)

Yeah, I suck a.k.a. Learning To Accept My Shortcomings
So I've been having a great fun filled albeit hectic way too fast summer. Which is now over. Problem being I was having such a great time enjoying myself in the moment and thinking that there's always tomorrow. Except now there's not. And I am in no way ready to run a half marathon. So I suck. Working at accepting myself for sucking. Because I rarely don't do something I say I am. And I'm not running this Sunday. So I really suck. To boost my self esteem I'm trying to see how many times I can use the word suck and variations of the word suck. Cos' you know, it sucks to not do what you thought to do. I'm still sucking down cigarettes too. Another reason I can't finish 13 miles besides the laziness and general suckiness. Screw it, if it rains this weekend maybe I'll still go do it. I could get in at least 2 more runs before. I might be able to physically finish, even if I have to leave my iPod at home. Sucky race safety rules. sigh. But I'm at a really suckkity sucking sucky 12 minute mile pace. They kick you off the road if you go over a 13 min./mile. I don't know! agh!

Throwing myself under the bandwagon
So I've been watching and reading and this is the one. most definitely. I liked the editing on CMR so that's who I've linked to, where there is also a link to the original statement by the archdiocese of NY.
I've also read the response to the response, issued by Pelosi's spokesperson. Here's a clue: Stop the mindless statements that say nothing. (Does explain why she'll suit Obama, that pay grade answer, give me a break! be honest! don't avoid the questions!) What Pelosi needs to do is issue a statement saying quite simply that's she apologizes. This is something we learned before kindergarten. When you say or do something wrong or inappropriate, you say "I'm sorry. Next time I'll do better." IMHO, she flat out lied to the nation about Church doctrine, whether intentional or unintentional. It would be one thing if she said some Catholics believe x, y, and z. But she was saying the CHURCH said it, taught it, embraced it. While it's true there are Catholics who don't agree 100% with the Church's teaching - that doesn't mean their disagreements are the teachings of the Church.
Another part of this that upsets me is that how is it okay for her (and some assorted others) to be playin' their religion cards and the rest of the world is told, oh no, separation, separation. Besides, there is a much more effective way to play a religion card than saying on national TV that you are "ardent" and "practicing", or "well-studied"(which she obviously isn't.) Go to Mass. Pray. Don't flaunt it. Even the littlest children are taught that what you do should be for God not for your own gratification. You do it out of love for Him; you do not parade around firmly convincing us you are definitely putting on a show.

School Resumes
Ah, a lovely time of year when order is restored and daily routines have timetables. dd1 loves her teacher and especially the cafeteria. For some reason it is very special that they eat lunch in the cafeteria. I have no clue, but I am glad she is happy and lovin' it like McDonald's.
I actually accomplished something today besides playing outside which is all we did the entire summer. All laundry is done (never happens, I am in shock just from that.) And . . . drum roll please . . . that bedroom I've been, uh, painting since June . . I finished the trim today and just need to nail it back in. 'Tis complete. I needed a 2 month break to finish the job; however, the crazy color split doesn't look half bad. Kinda sharp. When my computer and my camera stop fighting, maybe I'll add some pictures. Hanging the draperies is next! oo la la! ;)
dd2 starts next week and I will be alone during daylight. I'm not sure I'll know what to do with myself. The idea of such stillness and quiet is shocking. Ok, so I know exactly what I'll be doing. Training for a 13 mile race and praying I can get under a 9 min/mile. I think I need to start strength training again too. I've been feeling weak. Like I might need someone to open jars for me, the effort of movement being draining. I'm not ready to consider aging as much as I might joke about it. This could also be a result of my most crappy dietary guidelines which include some really tasty but bad for you treats.

Disappointment yet again
This whole post is going to make me such a hypocrite. I have to clarify before I begin that I have no superiority issues, HONESTLY. Add to this that Saturday night I'll be in vogue with every page of TSWPL book. Oy.
:clearing throat:
I grew up in typical suburbia. So I should be accustomed to the continual circle of let downs just when I think I have stumbled across what could be interesting, or at least amusing in the inherent brain numbing of a hectic day that knows no end. And it all begins again the next morning. But I digress. ahem!
I have felt consistently throughout the past years an urge quite human. To find others of similar value, who uphold the ethics and moral codes which I respect. I realize my own struggle to be the person I envision whom I am not. Yet. I cannot help the feeling of disappointment and, yes, even disgust upon certain true natures when revealed. I should have more compassion for those who are also still journeying to that ideal person they wish to be. That's part of my ideal. But I don't.
I cannot stand certain forms of immaturity. Such as the inability to recognize someone else's worth and to not displace their moment of glory. Is live and let live such a hard theory? I know that this whole lil' essay requires me to then ask myself that also. But it's so frustrating! People work hard for their accomplishments and rarely get the recognition they deserve. So when someone IS given center stage for something they worked hard for - stand up and clap, figuratively or literally, whatever is appropriate to the situation. Don't be so immature as to devalue everything that person has invested and sacrificed.
And WHY would someone be so immature? I truly blame typical white middle class suburbia that gives a lot of youth the beginnings of their sense of entitlement. A sense of entitlement that leaves you empty when you realize you haven't done much for what you have, so what do you actually deserve? So you let your jealousy, your immaturity, and your empty cores take the reins and you don't allow other people their worth.
Poo on you. Seriously.

Hey . . . Obama. McCain. Hear this . . .
“America first proclaimed its independence on the basis of self-evident moral truths,” noted Pope Paul VI, during an evening prayer service in St. Louis. “America will remain a beacon of freedom for the world as long as it stands by those moral truths which are the very heart of its historical experience.
“And so America: If you want peace, work for justice. If you want justice, defend life. If you want life, embrace truth — truth revealed by God.”
I know, I know . . . I'm dreaming. Better than apathy.
